Advancing high-quality carbon removal solutions
Carbon removals and direct air capture are at a turning point. Guided by climate science, the need to permanently remove CO₂ from the air, in addition to drastic emissions reductions, has reached a new level of attention from governments, media, and businesses throughout the past months. However, the marathon to build a carbon removal industry that successfully operates at gigaton scale has only just begun.
We strongly believe in the need to scale solutions that are net-negative, additional, verifiable, and combined with durable storage/permanence. These quality criteria have always been at the core of Climeworks’ mission, and they will take center stage at this year’s summit.
To help advance such high-quality carbon removal solutions, Climeworks is excited to host its fourth Direct Air Capture Summit, which will take place on June 6, 2023, in Zurich, Switzerland, and online.

What the summit focused on in previous years
In 2022, the focus was on scaling the direct air capture industry: we explored why direct air capture must scale to an industry starting now and what the key enablers are. Pioneering corporate players, thought leaders, and politicians talked about the role that direct air capture can play in the future. The one-day event included multi-dimensional tech, business, and policy viewpoints.
